In this tutorial, I will guide to you how to create acronym in Word. It will help to increase your typing ability.
When you have to type, edit documents a lot, you will inevitably come across long phrases, or they will be repeated many times right?
Well, instead of having to re-type those phrases again and again, why don’t you use Word’s built-in keyboard shortcuts to save you time editing text. Yes, I think many of you here also know about this Word shortcut setting. However, I will still guide the newcomers to know early and apply in their work.
And the feature that will help you to do that is call AutoCorrect Options.
I. Create acronym in Word _ Set up keyboard abbreviations.
Step 1: Go to File and choose Options.
Step 2: Appears the Word Options box, go to Proofing and select AutoCorrect Options.
Step 3: When the AutoCorrect Options is opened, look for the 2 section Replace and With, which Replace is where you set the acronym, and With is where to set the meaning.
Below is an example of creating an acronym for the phrase “As soon as possible”
Click Add. Then you will see it has been add to the library below. Press OK to save.
From now on whenever typing a abbreviation, it will be display in the full meaning.
You can also use this tip for writing math equations, calculations,…since it will take a lot of time to create those equations and calculations one by one.
II. Settings for acronym generator from words.
If you want to edit the full meaning of the acronym into something else, you can do to this following:
Go to Auto Correct Options, for example when I type in the word “A.S.A.P”, the phrase “As soon as possible” will be displayed. At this point, in the With section type in the full meaning you want to change to, then click on Replace.
A notice board will appear asking to confirm the change. Click Yes to continue.
Now when you comeback to the working screen and type in the acronym, the full meaning of it will be displayed in the phrase you have just edited.
III. Delete abbreviations setting in word.
If you do not want to use that abbreviaitons anymore, you can delete it by going to AutoCorrect box, find the abbreviaitons you want to delete in Replace and click Delete. Then OK to save.
After this whenever type in the abbreviation it will not be displayed in any terms of full meaning.
