When working with Word, you also need pictures to illustrate for your writing. And surely if you have followed for a time, you have already known how to insert pictures from your device or insert pictures online. But if you don’t have an image or you simply want to create just a simple shape, Word has that functionality ready for you. There are going to be a lot of options, a lot of shapes available to draw such as rectangle, triangle, circle, quadrangle, …
Now let’s find out how to draw shapes in Word.
I. How to draw shapes in Word?
1: Select tab Insert => then select the Shapes tool.
2: Now that groups of shapes appear, click on whatever shape you want to draw.
3: Select the position you want to draw in Word, hold down the left cursor button and move it to draw shape.
Note: To draw squares and circles, hold Shift before drawing, this will help the shape more balance and accurate. You won’t have to waste time aligning later or worrying about it being distorted.
II. How do you change the shape that you have drawn.
When you want to change the original shape you have just drew to another shape, do as follows.
Step 1: Click on the shape you want to change.
Step 2: Go to Format, select Change Shape. Then select the shape you want to change to.
The new shape will now be changed with the same size as the original one.
III. How do you transform shape?
In the shapes with the yellow circle dot – like this triangle below, drag and drop this dot, the shape will change.
This is for when Word does not have the shape you want; you can choose a similar shape to transform it into the shape you want.
1: Click on the shape you want to transform.
2: Go to Format, select Change Shape then choose Edit Points.
3: Select the black dot to drag and drop, the shape will transform to another one. You can see 2 white dots which you can also drag to transform.
So the shape will be transform to this
IV. Resize, rotate, and move drawings in Word
Option 1:
Select the shape, then move the cursor to the edge with circle dot, hold the cursor and drag in or out. The size of the shape will change accordingly.
Option 2:
Step 1: Double-click the shape you want to resize.
Step 2: In section Width, Height, enter parameters to change the size of the shape.
V. Rotate shapes in Word
Option 1: Select the shape you want to rotate, then a reverse arrow will appear, press and hold the cursor to rotate in the direction you want.
Option 2:
Step 1: Double-click at the shape.
Step 2: Select Rotate. These are rotate options for you to choose from:
Rotate Right 90: Rotate right 90 degrees
Rotate Left 90: Rotate right 90 degrees
Flip Vertical: Flip the shape vertically.
Flip Horizontal: Flip the shape horizontally.
If you want to rotate to a different angle, select the More Rotation Options …
Step 3: Enter the degrees you want to rotate in the Rotation => then click OK
VI. How do you move shapes in word?
Step 1: Click anywhere on the shape needs to be moved.
Step 2: Hold the cursor to move to the position you want, then release the cursor.
