How to insert current date and time in word document? Perhaps it may sound ridiculous right? We could just type in the date and time, why even need tools? Well if that’s your thought, you might be wrong, because some people don’t think so. Word is a smart application that creates date insertion not only to save you a little time checking your calendar, but another cool feature that allows you to change pre-entered dates just by several clicks. Still towards the most convenient, right?
So you already know the great use of this function, let’s find out how to do it.
Note: Okay so before we start, please make sure the date and time system on your computer is running correctly.
I. insert current date and time in word document in English format.
Step 1: Go to tab Insert, select Date & Time.
Step 2: In the dialog box, click to choose Update Automatically.
(Note: After you saved the file, Update Automatically will automatic update the date and time inserted in the document to the current date and time whenever you open the file. If you don’t want this to happen, simply don’t check at the box, the time and date will not be changed.)
To select the format, in the Language section, select English (US), choose the display method you want in Available Formats, then click OK for Word to insert.
Step 3: No more steps. You work is done.
In case you have not saved the file yet but want to update the date and time to save it now, simply right-click on the date and time and select Update Field.
After saving it, anytime you open the file in the future, Word will automatically update and display the correct current date and time for you, sounds super convenient right?
II. Set date and time in other formats.
Open the Date & Time dialog box as I mentioned above. In the Language section just choose another language. The Available formats for that language will be shown and you just have to do the same as those 3 steps we just talked about earlier.
Here is how it will be displayed.
CONCLUSION
Do you still find it ridiculous now? I bet you were surprised by this tiny Word utility. Hopefully this tutorial of mine will make your Word operations easier.
Thanks and good luck.
