In many case, when download or copy texts online and paste it into the Word application, you may find it still retains the original formatting like the background color, the font, … This sometimes brings discomfort and interferes your working progress.
While adjust the font and font size has been very easy to do, here I’m gonna show you how to deal with the background color, what can you do to make it clearer and more beautiful?
1. Use Notepad
Notepad is a basic editing software that does not support background color. So whatever kind of content you paste into Notepad, it will remove all the current format and only displays the textual content.
Step 1: Cut the text containing the background color.
Step 2: Open Notepad. You can find it in the Start menu, or else, go to the Start menu, search for “Notepad” in the Search programs and files box.
Step 3: Paste the copied content into the Notepad software.
Step 4: At this point you can see the background of the content has disappeared, now you can easily reserve copy the content from Notepad back to Word.
2. Use Paste feature in Word.
This method is only available for Word 2007 or higher version.
Step 1: Cut the text containing the background color that needs to remove (from Internet, Browser,…)
Step 2: In Word, right click and move to the Paste option, you can see at the last option which is “Keep text only”. Choose this format. Once selected, the background color will definitely be removed from the text.
3. Use clear all formatting feature in Word.
Step 1: Copy the text contains background color. When paste into Word, select them all.
Step 2: Go to tab Home, in the Font box, click on the small icon that has an eraser which is the Clear All Formatting feature => the background will be removed.
You can see at the picture below as the result.
4. Remove background color in word by shading feature.
Step 1: Copy the text containing the background color. Paste it in to Word and highlight the whole content.
Step 2: Go to tab Home, in Paragraph select the Shading tool, choose No color, it will clear all the background color.
Removed background perfectly.
5. Delete background color in Word.
The last easy way to do, if you have a document with colored text page.
Step 1: First, open the document file, here I have a full page with a colored background.
Step 2: Go to tab Design, select Page Color, then choose No Color to immediately delete all the background color of the texts.
Successfully removed the background.
6. Use “Find and Replace” Feature.
1. Press Ctrl + H to open find and replace command.
2. In the replace droup, Place cursor at the “Find what” text box and click “More” -> format -> highlight.
3. Place cursor at the “ replace with” text box and click “More” -> format -> not highlight.
4 Click replace all to remove background.
