Flowchart in Powerpoint is a type of chart with many branches connected together. Creating a flowchart can help you keep track of the progress of your work. And today, on that basis, I want to bring you an article on how to create a flowchart on PowerPoint.
We will use Shapes tool to do all the steps, any version of powerpoint can do it.
I. Create the flowchart
First, we will create shapes. Remember to define the shapes that you will create that correspond to the representation of a particular content.
For example, I use oval shapes as the begining and the ending shape.
Secondly, A diamond shape which will represent the inflections point within the process.
Finally, I’ll make each rectangle represents a step.
Now start creating shapes!
Step 1: Go to Insert => Shapes then draw the shapes in order. You can draw as many as you want depends on your flowchart.
Step 2: Align the shapes, modify them by double-clicking on the shape to move to tab Format.
Here, select the Shape Fill, Shape Outline, or adding an effect for the shape as you like.
Step 3: Insert text in the shape. In addition, you can go to Home tab to change Font, size,…or go to Format tab to select the word styles…
Step 4: Now, you should insert the arrows to show the process. Go to Insert => Shapes => select arrow. I believe you have mastered this already.
Step 5: Lastly, when every steps are done, don’t forget to double check. A full flowchart will have one begining and one ending point, inflection points, and options at those inflection points. Make sure they are connected!
II. Create a flowchart using Powerpoint SmartArt
Although using SmartArt will limit some features but it is very simple, suitable for diagrams that are not too complicated.
Step 1: Obviously, you always can use the SmartArt which is a chart tool of PowerPoint. Go to Insert and select SmartArt.
Step 2: Select a template. You can look for a form of flowchart in Process section as I have selected below.
Step 3: Insert the model and double-click to type. Also, to add more shapes, right-click and select Add Shape. To remove, simply select the shape then press Delete.
