Today, to continue the topic of PowerPoint games, I will give you an easy to understand tutorial of how to make a Hide and reveal game Powerpoint template. The purpose of Powerpoint games is too clear that is to create excitement to your presentation or lecture. You’ll want to add games to your presentation to avoid lingering boredom. And to create a realistic PowerPoint game is very familiar and also needed to those who often use PowerPoint to work or teach.
I’m using Microsoft Office 365. On other versions you can do the same.
I. Hide and Reveal game format
This is how the game will like: At first, I will give you a picture covered by shapes. Your job is to choose one of those and answer the question corresponded to that shape. If correct, the shape will disappear to reveal part of the picture. Answer correct all the questions to reveal the full last picture.
Step 1: In PowerPoint, select Insert => Picture. For the title of the game you will use Textbox. I also format the background with available pattern. (Right-click => Format Background)
Step 2: Next, you will create shapes to cover this picture. Go to Insert => Shapes and select rectangle.
Place the shapes to cover the original picture as shown below. You can use Ctrl + D to duplicate the shape. Fill the shapes with the number of questions.
Step 3: After that you will need to create question slides corresponding to the pre-made cells. Here I have 4 slides corresponding to 4 questions.
Step 4: You need a Home button for each question slide, so that when you finish answering a question, you can quickly switch back to the original slide. (Insert => Shapes => Home shape)
Right-click at Home shape, in Hyperlink to: select Slide and select the first slide of the game.
Step 5: Now go back to the first slide and link each cell to the question slides by Hyperlink. Select each shape, right-click and choose Hyperlink. Do the same with all the question slides.
If you still don’t know how to work with Hyperlink through this picture, please refer to one of our article below:

II. Add Powerpoint animations for the game
Step 1: Make shapes disappear when you click. First, select all the cells, go to Animation and choose an Exit effect. Here I choose Shrink & Turn, you can choose the effect you like.
Then, right-click at the effect and select Timing.
In the Shrink & Turn box, select Trigger. Check the box Start Effect on click of then select the first rectangle.
Apply the same steps to the remaining shapes.
Now if you press F5, when click on the box number 1, you will be redirected to the slide containing the question, after answering you click the Home button and the puzzle will automatically disappear.
Step 2: Now that the picture of the Hide and Reveal game has fully appearred. You can now create a button for the answer of the last picture if you want. Select Insert then Shape and use Textbox to write the answer.
Then you go to Animation to add effects to the answer.
Step 3: I want the answer to appears when I click the Answer button. In order to do that, select the answer Textbox then go to Animation. Select Trigger => On click of => Oval shape (the shape used to make the answer button).
That’s all the work for the Hide and Reveal game!
