In this tutorial I will introduce to you more table in word 2016 as Coloring background, Insert math formula into table, numbering table in Word. Table is a familiar and important concept that is indispensable when we use Word. In addition to the basic operations such as creating tables, aligning tables, merging tables … there are other things you can do to help you with your work and also increase your understanding of how to use tables Word too.
So today I will guide you these basic knowledge: Numbering in the table, coloring and using formulas in the table. Hopefully these basics will be helpful to newcomers who are learning Word applications to improve their practical skills when manipulating tables.
I. Coloring background of the table in word 2016.
Select the cell, column, row, or the entire table you want to color the background with, then click Home. On the Paragraph section, select Shading to fill the background for the table, select the color you want to paint.

II. Insert math formula into table in Word
Word allows users to perform some simple math operations such as: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Although it is not as perfect as Excel, but with simple calculations, this way can help you save some time calculate by hand or have to open Excel.

Here I will just show you an example of inseting math formula to calculate a sum.

The result will be display and can not be wrong.
If you change one data in a table cell, some positions may need to change too. Instead of doing 2 steps to recalculate we will do another much simpler way.
Go to the cell you want to update the results, then select the value and right click to choose Update Field. The result will be automatically updated for you.
III. Numbering table in Word.
Step 1: Select the content you want to number by order. Go to the Home and select Numbering, then select Define New number Format.
Step 2: The Define New number Format box appears, select the option as shown below, then select OK.
When you add more lines, it will automatically number them for you.
