10 belt and pulley mechanism examples

In this post I will explain about 10 belt and pulley mechanism examples: Open belt, cross belt, change speed belt,… How it work?

1. Open belt.

The transmission of power by simple pulleys and an open belt. The pulleys rotate in the same direction.

2. Cross belt.

The transmission of power by simple pulleys and an cross belt. Direction of rotation of the pulleys is reversed. The reverse is possible for rope, flat belts, not for V-belt.

3. Transmission between parallel shafts.

Input pulley, double sides pulleys are same direction of rotation. Direction of rotation of output pulley is reversed.

4. Rotation transmission between parallel and skew shafts.

Skew angle is 90 degrees. The rotation transmission of power by simple pulleys and an open belt.

5. Rotation transmission between two intersecting shafts.

The rotation transmission of power by simple pulleys and an open belt. Angle between the red and green shafts may differ from 90 degrees.
